Bennet’s To Honor Bennet Geiser for His 100th Birthday

ORRVILLE--January 2, 2012

Bennet’s Appliance Centers, Inc. will celebrate the 100th birthday of their founder, Bennet Geiser, the week of his 100th birthday, January 9–14, 2012. Bennet’s invites the public to stop in to the Orrville store location (1300 West High Street) or North Canton store location (607 South Main Street) to celebrate, receive discounted prices, and enter to win various door prizes.

A drawing will be held at the end of the week for the following prizes: A $100 Gift Card, a Whirlpool microwave, a Bosch dishwasher, a Frigidaire dishwasher, and a grand prize Serta mattress set valued at $900.

For two days only - Friday and Saturday - all major appliances, furniture and mattresses, over $399, will be 10%-15% Off retail price. Orrville’s own Smith’s Dairy ice cream will be served, along with birthday cake on Saturday.

The explosive surge in natural bedding materials has the mattress industry scrambling to keep up with demand for mattresses using less synthetically derived ingredients.
With dependency upon fossil fuels inflaming the collective consciousness of many consumers, the demand for botanically or otherwise naturally derived material has never been greater. Perhaps the hottest product in the marketplace right now is natural latex, a botanically derived material that is made from the milky white cambium layer "sap" of the rubber tree.

In fact, this material has been used in the bedding industry for over 50 years, as a relatively inexpensive yet comfortable alternative to a coil mattress. Once synthetic extruded foams, such as urethane foam, exclusively derived from petrochemical compounds, became widely available to the bedding industry at much cheaper prices, natural rubber mattresses faded away…temporarily. With more focus and concern on using sustainable and renewable resources in a global fashion, latex is literally…a natural. Typically plantation grown, the rubber wood tree produces liquid latex for only about 20 years, then ceases production. The trees continue to grow for another 5-10 years and are then harvested for their lumber, yielding an amazingly beautifully grained wood with a teak or mahogany like finish.

Many other natural materials are also on the forefront of being introduced in a big way in the mattress industry, including soy based foams, which have been in refinement for years, but the extrusion process was complicated by the fact that chemical additives and emulsifiers had to be added to produce a comfortable, flexible material. Now, with the hardware being more refined and designed around the unique properties of the soy material, the technique is being highly developed so that only pure soy foam is produced in the end extrusion. In the near future, it is likely that a typical eco-friendly mattress will be entirely green, from the glue used to adhere any components, to the outer covering, which can be spun from bamboo fiber, or organic sheep's wool.

Laundry Tips at Bennets Appliance

I have a laundry tip that could save you a whole lot of trouble.

Do you use Fabric Softener? If you do, you may be clogging up your dryer lint system and not know it.
Fabric Softener seems to make lint sticky, when lint is sticky it sticks to what ever it touches. When it gets past your lint screen and into your dryer vent it can clog it up real quick. This may mean the dryer does not dry properly so you use much more energy to dry. Or it could clog the vent opening and a mouse may decide to crawl down into your dryer and that really is a bad thing. They smell terrible when they get hot and die in your dryer. The clothes are ruined too.

So my advice is to stop using fabric softener completely. Get a water softener if your water is really hard.

I have a good one that we use all the time. When finished washing your clothes, regular, whites, or dress shirts it does not matter. Put your shirts with collars or blouses into your dryer for just a short period and then begin to take out one at a time, ( keep the dryer running) place on a nice wood hanger with the collar neat and top buttons closed. Then hang near a dehumidifier. You will accomplish several things at the same time. Your basement will be dry, your shirts or blouses will be nice and smooth with no wrinkles and you save money by the shorter running time of your dryer.

Take it to another step, buy an Amish Dryer from Bennet's and hang up all your other things as socks, underwear, T-shirts etc. This dryer takes no energy! Be sure to place it near your dehumidifier too to let it pull all the moisture out of your clothes. Your T-s will be nice and smooth too...No ironing ever.
